Painting with Renata Kelly

Renata Kelly is a young artist born and raised in Karratha with ancestral links to Baiyungu – Ingarrda through her Great Grandmother Mary Franklin (nee Cooyou), and Ngarluma – Yinjabandi through her Great Grandfather (Reggie Hicks). She is also connected to Lungka Kija (Moola Bulla – Halls creek) from her grandfather Marty Stevens.

Renata worked closely with her great grandmother Hazel Walgar for the Jamba Nyinayi festival artwork from its inception in 2023 around the total solar eclipse and again provided the design for the 2024 festival.

Her workshop will focus on painting and line drawing as well as the stories behind her designs. Children are encouraged to attend.
